Sure, Mary, we can take a look. Give us the web address, and let us know what you know about it– is there any content management system behind it (where there’s a login and you can key in content) or whether it’s just HTML, or developed in Front Page, Cold Fusion, etc. (Whatever you know…)

Hi again,
Here’s my question…we have a nice church website and recently lost our web designer. The person who stepped up to maintain it has taken college classes on web-page building but is having a very hard time figuring our site out. So much so that she wants to give up on it and find someone else to take it on.

Can you guys inspect an existing site and the nuts and bolts of it, and make it more user-friendly? And give an estimate of how much it will cost?

I’m plugging you to my church, so you can reply here or by email, whichever you prefer!

Thanks for the gracious comments, Mary. I’ll have to stop by MInTheGap and make sure that I thank him for the link.

I think that a lot of what you can do depends on how many people you have in your membership and how often they are online. In a big congregation I could see a forum working well– and prayer requests could work as long as you have some security. You always have the problem of forum moderation, but as long as you have caring individuals to serve in this way it can be done.

Nothing will replace actually visiting the church, seeing the people, and hearing the pastor, but a church website is a good first step.

Found you through MInTheGap’s website and wanted to thank you for making this a ministry! What a great need you’ll fill. I’m so grateful for my own church website, as a member I can easily access praise and prayer request forums, I can check the calendar to see when my next turn at Children’s Story or nursery duty is…plus we have live feeds of news important to our Christianity in this culture.

I agree it is so important, whether you are church hunting locally, or moving to a new town…if you can get an in-depth look at a church it really cuts down on all the church shopping one has to do. You can easily get discouraged when weeks turn into months and you haven’t found the right “church” yet. I’d think websites would really narrow that search beneficially.
